Looking after the Scheme

The Scheme is looked after by a corporate Trustee called NFUM Pension Trustee Company Limited. It has five Trustee Directors: three appointed by NFU Mutual (Employer Nominated) and two nominated by the members of the Scheme (Member Nominated).

Brian Duffin OBE FFA

Brian was appointed as an Employer Nominated Trustee Director and Chair of the Trustee in 2014. He was also appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the NFU Mutual Board in 2014 and is Chair of the With-Profits Committee.

Brian was Group Chief Executive of Scottish Life and an Executive Director of Royal London Group. He is Chairman of Scottish Equitable Policyholders Trust, the GEC 1972 Pension Plan, Aviva’s With-Profits Committee, an Independent Trustee of the Bailey Gifford Staff Pension Scheme and Trustee of the Church of Scotland Investors Trust.

In 2019, Brian received an OBE for services to the pensions industry.

Jonathan Priestley

Jonathan was appointed as an Employer Nominated Trustee Director in 2019 and is the Deputy Chair of the Trustee.

During Jonathan’s time at NFU Mutual, he has primarily worked in the Life Actuarial team where he has performed a number of roles including Head of Life Actuarial and the statutory Chief Actuary.

In November 2018, Jonathan was appointed Head of Finance Actuarial. In 2018, Jonathan also took on the role as Chair for two group subsidiaries, NFU Mutual Unit Managers (MUMCO) and NFU Mutual Investment Services Limited (MISCO).

Kenny Graves

Kenny was appointed as an Employer Nominated Trustee Director in 2018.

Kenny joined NFU Mutual as Head of Human Resources in 2017. His role is to oversee the development and delivery of NFU Mutual’s HR strategy, as well as develop the HR team to deliver first-class services and professional HR advice, supporting managers and staff across the business.

Before joining NFU Mutual, Kenny was Head of HR at Police Mutual and Phoenix Group and has more than 20 years’ experience of HR within the Financial Services, Chemicals, IT and Manufacturing sectors.

Andrew Spriggs

Andrew was appointed as a Member Nominated Trustee Director in 2018.

Andrew joined NFU Mutual as a Professional Trainee in 1972 and held management roles in Chester and Stratford. He also represented colleagues for the union in Wellingborough. He retired in 2013.

Andrew served for 15 years on an ABI Committee in London, is a treasurer of a golf society, raising money for local charities and Chairman of Old Laurentian Rugby FC.

Kevin Davies

Kevin was appointed as a Member Nominated Trustee Director in 2018.

Kevin was a Financial Adviser for 28 years and for the last 5 years, he has worked as a Pension Transfer Specialist. In his current role, he deals with the assessment and transfer of defined benefit (Final salary) pension schemes.

Before working as a financial adviser, Kevin was employed by NatWest and, whilst located in Lymington, was the Office Union Representative.
